Thank you for spreading the word

Dear Recovery, Inc.

Recently I had the pleasure or attending a demonstration panel of Recovery, Inc. practitioners whom I had invited to the clinic where I work in Brooklyn, NY. CLEARWAY serves MICA clients who are dually diagnosed with substance abuse issues and with mental illness. The panel was led by Tony Ferrigno and included five volunteers. We were so impressed by the method and by the enthusiasm and knowledge of the participants. Our staff members attended along with one client. The client proved to be very challenging in her questions and we were again impressed with the kindness and humanity with which she was treated and attended to by Recovery members. Thank you for spreading the word. I am enclosing a humble token of my gratitude.

Yours truly,
Christine MacDonald, CSW

Appreciation for Recovery, Inc. by Nanaimo Group, Western Canada

The following is a letter we received from the Vancouver Island Health Authority providing us with their testimonials that tracks the birth of a new group in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island, due to the efforts of Rosanne Pragnell, Western Canada's Area Leader.

"The Nanaimo Mental Health Services held its annual forum in the fall of 2001. Rosanne Pragnell, Area Leader of Western Canada for Recovery, Inc. was one of two key speakers at the forum. How fortuitous that turned out to be. Since her presentation to an audience of over 200 people, a new branch of Recovery, Inc. has now been established--the first on Vancouver Island."

"The Nanaimo Recovery, Inc. regular meeting is held every Tuesday. Several of our ex-clientele attend this self-help group which now has more than 24 members and growing. Inquiries about the group come from a variety of sources (psychiatrists, family doctors, and the public at large) as to how to access the group. The referral process is very simple. People just show up, no formalities, no forms to fill out. What a change."

"The Nanaimo Mental Health Services treat people suffering from a wide variety of mental illnesses; among these are major depression and severe anxiety. We are finding that Recovery, Inc. is filling a important gap; namely the person who attends Recovery, Inc. is taking greater responsibility for their own follow-up by picking up psycho-educational "tools" to help them manage their lives. In addition, many of our clients suffer from long-standing mental illness (schizophrenia and bipolar disorder). These clients receive structured emotional support from this remarkable self-help concept, which has stood the test of time since 1937."

"Rosanne Pragnell informs me that the Nanaimo branch of Recovery, Inc. has trained three local people to take on the role of group leader, for the ongoing maintenance of the Nanaimo Group. It is my understanding that they are well on their way to establishing another Recovery group in Ladysmith."

"A big thanks to Recovery, Inc. for the good work they are doing in Nanaimo."
